How to Make Your Outdoor Dining Table Last

Choosing an outdoor dining table to fit your outside theme is easy to do with all of the choices available for outdoor furniture. However, there are some important things you should keep in mind when choosing a table for dining outdoors.

When choosing an outdoor dining table, keep in mind where you are going to place it outdoors. Will the table be enclosed in an area, and protected from the weather? If not you will want to be sure that you find one that will hold up.

Most wooden tables that are intended for outside use are made from treated wood. However, even treated wood tables begin to rot and become an eyesore over time. If you choose a wooden outdoor dining table, such as a picnic table, and it will be exposed to the weather, try purchasing a coordinating cover to help protect the table. Such as a flannel back table cloth, one that you can replace with the seasons, to keep it looking nice and new. The tablecloth will bring added joy to your outdoor dining experience and protect your table and help it last longer in the process.

If you are looking at a plastic outdoor dining table, remember that most plastic colors will fade from the sun. Although the colors may fade, white will be a hard choice to keep looking clean as well. Many of the plastic dining table sets will come with an umbrella for the center, that will cover and protect your table and keep the sun out of your eyes while you are using it. However, not all of these tables do come with an umbrella. Make sure you can purchase one that will fit your table, and make your outdoor dining a pleasure, as well as keep your colored furniture looking new.

Metal outdoor dining table sets have disadvantages as well. First of all, many metals will rust after getting wet a few times, make sure the metal table you choose has a protective sealer coat on it, to keep your finish on the metal table looking nice. You can also get umbrellas to help protect metal outdoor dining tables also. Investing in a good umbrella and a table cloth to protect your table is not a bad idea.

Glass top outdoor dining sets are great, unless you have a huge rowdy dog or children, you can get away with most any glass top table for dining outside that you want. Other wise you need to keep some things in mind. A big rowdy dog may destroy your glass top table, by knocking it over and shattering the glass, as well as injuring himself and others in the process. Glass top tables with sharp corners are not good if you have younger children around that may run into the corners, or get under the table and hurt themselves. If you insist on a glass top table for outdoors and you have a large rambunctious dog as well as kids, consider getting one that is made of plexiglass and no sharp corners. A nice round table without any corners made of plexiglass will be kid and pet friendly, letting everyone relax and enjoy the nice outdoors while dining.

Outdoor dining tables are great, they are nice to have for nice days, lounging by the pool or cooking out and inviting friends over. Be sure you take the necessary steps to protect the outdoor table you choose, and have a great time using it.
